Customizing your workflow is essential for effective decision-making in the oil and gas industry. With Energy Domain DATA’s shapefile upload feature, you can bring your own geospatial data to the platform, filter wells and rigs, and create custom Areas of Interest (AOIs).
Whether you’re working with basin-specific shapefiles or company-provided boundaries, this feature allows you to quickly and accurately focus on the regions that matter most. This guide will walk you through the steps to upload your shapefiles, create AOIs, and maximize your operational efficiency.
Begin by opening the filters panel on the left-hand side of the platform. Click the 'Upload Shapefiles' button to start the process.
Select the shapefile you’d like to upload from your device. Energy Domain DATA accepts a variety of geospatial formats, including .shp and .zip files.
After uploading, your shapefile will be automatically saved as an AOI. Provide a unique and descriptive name for your AOI to help you identify it easily in the future.
Set a buffer distance of up to 5 miles around your AOI. This feature ensures you can monitor activity not just within your selected region but also in the surrounding areas.
Click the 'Save as AOI' button to confirm your settings and save your shapefile as an AOI.
Your saved AOI will now appear on the map, clearly outlining the region it represents. The AOI will automatically filter the wells and rigs within its boundaries.
Click on your AOI’s shape on the map to view more detailed information about the activity within the region.
Your AOI will also be saved in the AOI section of the side menu. From there, you can edit its settings, delete it, or select it for further analysis.
